Friends are vital, most of us would agree. Much of the story line of TV and movies addresses that theme. I watch a lot of TV shows, courtesy of our library’s collections. We don’t get cable and I don’t watch via any of the services that would allow being current on the shows, so I’m dependent on what the libraries stock. Fortunately the two library system’s that are available to me have very deep and wide selections. Crazy Rabbit Trail: I’m currently listening to a CD of a live concert by Joe Bonomassa (Live at Carnegie Hall: an acoustic evening). It’s a 2 disc set that is an amazing set of beautiful music. [I’ll just abbreviate Crazy Rabbit Trail to CRT in the future.]
Anyway, I was watching Birds of Prey, a show that only managed one season. The story line is that Batman and Catwoman had a daughter named Kyle, who is a metahuman that goes by Huntress. She has linked up with Batgirl, who now goes by Oracle, after becoming disabled during a Batman – Joker faceoff. They have taken in a teenager named Dinah, who we later learn is the daughter of the Black Canary. Sorry, that probably required a spoiler alert. The series has numerous story lines that highlight the importance of including others in your life. Of course, if you look at most TV you’ll see this is a regular theme.
I’ve enjoyed making friends via Facebook, especially the game Farm Town. My friends list expanded from family and coworkers to people around the world. In the process of connecting via the game activities we found ourselves getting to know each other and, to a degree anyway, the concerns we all have for our family and friends. Along the way, I started reconnecting with my high school classmates and then reaching out to others.
